i found something. the numbers 123 in the upper-middle of the first distortion. i can't make out what's in front of it. it sort of looks like RISEN123, but the N forms the 1. so maybe it's just RISEN23. but i'm still not entirely sure.

i say rule out the picture. i recently learned in my psychology class some stuff about hidden and subliminal messages, and it said that if the person is looking for a hidden message, even if its not there, then the person can usually find one.
i say the picture is for looks, and nothing was put into those scrambled boxes.

Yeah, if I had photo editing programs, I would put it through a couple filters to see if anything showed up, but I don't... Can somebody else do that?
If I had any idea what kind of filter to use, I'd try.

Try the "Grain" filter.
It's either that or he used scanlines, which is sort of a do it yourself filter.
